I want to start by saying I don't usually read the acknowledgements at the end of books but for some reason this one caught my eye and wow. Thank you Ms Gaughen for enduring all you did and for writing this beautiful book. I cannot even imagine what you went through but it seems that you and Shy are a lot alike. Both extremely strong women full of hope and love.

I really enjoyed reading this book. I did spend the majority of this book wanting to reach inside and pummel the living daylights out of a certain character but hey that's normal right? The characters were beautifully constructed and I cannot wait to find out more about each and every one of them. The story was pretty fast paced and kept me hooked for the majority of the book. After finishing the book I just want to know more! More about the elementae and their powers, more about the islands and more about all the main characters we encountered while reading! I will definitely be eagerly awaiting book 2!

Reign the Earth is a fantastic first book in a series about powerful women and the powers & relationships they have. 10/10 & can't wait for the next one!
Great book! It was hard to put down. Adventure, romance, and a strong protagonist
This book was seriously amazing! I cannot wait for more of this series. The characters were so well-rounded with multiple sides to them. The plot also had me on the edge of my seat. I recommend this to anyone who wants a fulfilling and thrilling adventure they won't be able to put down.
I got a little bogged down by the romance, but interesting story concept. I like the elemental power angle and contrast between a cruel man and several kind men to illustrate the difference and expose the subtle forms abuse can sometimes take. Villain felt a little flat to me. I would have liked to know what happened to his mother.
Reasons why you should read this novel.

1. A female protagonist that grows into a strong heroine. You actually watch her grow. AMAZING!!!
2. Elemental powers
3. This book does not shy away from abuse (emotional and physical), torture, genocide, rape, and a few other topics that I will not say because they would spoil the story. It made me cringe and feel sick.
4. The female protagonist's family is strong and very close. AND COOL! (so rare in fantasy novels)
5. Sibling banter
6. A. C. Gaughen builds up the momentum of this novel SO WELL!
7. The world-building was EXCELLENT! You could really feel the differences between the two main cultures among the characters
8. The romance was a slow burn not insta-love. *swoon* (THANK YOU A. C. GAUGHEN!!!!!)
9. Sometimes, I wish I could punch characters. Well, I got my wish. There was a well deserved punch on page 295 that had me like YES! THANK YOU! SOMEONE FINALLY DID IT!!!!
10. The villain is no joke. You grow to hate him.
11. Read the acknowledgements! It had me teary-eyed seeing the story behind this book. A. C. Gaughen, you are my hero! A true inspiration to keep pursuing, hustling, and chasing after your dreams! XOXO
Wow, wow, wow! Yes, this book was just what I needed. A strong female character that has powers that can control the earth. Throw in a rebellion and the fact that our MC (Shalia) is forced to marry the evil ruler that her brothers rebellion wants to stop is just the base for this incredible story. While there are some darker events (abuse, etc) in this story, it was great to see how Shalia was able to overcome these terrible situations to fight another day. Totally recommend this book to anyone looking for another strong female main character to read about.
I really enjoyed this novel! The beginning was a little confusing for me but I was quickly reeled in! I was more interested in the characters at first over the plot. They were all very different and I found their interactions to be written so well. The plot eventually picked up for me and it became very intriguing once the world and the powers of the people were unraveled. There are a couple of twists that really got me and some parts that really kept me on the edge on my seat. There are many parts in this book that I would say are intense. It makes your heart race and ache for the characters. I haven't read something quite like this before and I am dying for the sequel. Highly recommend!
